Causes for anxiety in children

Anxiety can affect all types of people and unfortunately children are no exception to it. Anxiety in children is becoming increasingly common and this trend is only set to increase in the next few years. Unlike adults, children are unable to cope with these bouts on their own. They do not have the knowledge about these attacks nor do they have the maturity to overcome them. There are highly reliant on their parents and family members help to overcome the anxiety bouts but unfortunately, the parents and family members are the primary causes of anxiety in children in the first place.

It is estimated that over 40% of anxiety in children is caused because of friction between the parents or because of separation of the parents. Children who face these situations in their early childhood can not only be afflicted with anxiety, they are also more prone to psychological disorders. The problem with anxiety in children is that the physical and biological symptoms can turn out to be long lasting ailments. If they do not get adequate medication and treatment, the ailments can turn out to be permanent disorders. Children are also very impressionable; they get easily influenced by that they can see and observe. Parents who are prone to anxiety symptoms can influence their children in a bad way. These family influences are also a major cause for anxiety in children. Heredity and genetics can also play a part in affecting children with anxiety. Like many other psychological and mental ailments, anxiety is also passed on hereditarily. Up to 10% of anxiety in children is caused due to heredity. This type of anxiety cannot be prevented but can be controlled and the effects can be minimized. It is also understood that at least 10% of the children suffer from anxiety and its associated ailments. It is of course common for adults to have anxiety bouts from time to time but the fact is children also have the same percentage of anxiety bouts and this is a cause for concern. Parents and family members must ensure that their children are insulated from familial influences and must also shield them from external influences. They must also help children with anxiety to overcome their effects. Anxiety in children has an increased risk of becoming a permanent disorder, it proper treatment is not given at the right time.
